Taith i'r theatr

Aeth disgyblion Bl 12 a 13 i'r theatr i wylio'r ddrama SXTO gan gwmni Theatr Arad Goch.

Year 12 and 13 Welsh students went to the theatre to watch the play SXTO by Arad Goch Theatre Company.

Adroddiad gan Lydia Gibbs, Bl 13::

"Es i i weld y ddrama SXTO gyda'r ysgol. Roedd y ddrama am sut mae secstio yn beryglus i bobl ifanc. Roedd pedwar cymeriad yn y ddrama. Y cymeriadau ydy Lowri, ei chariad Meic, ei ffrind Jen a Gav ffrind Meic. Fy hoff gymeriad ydy Gav achos mae e’n ddoniol iawn.

Er roedd y ddrama yn syml, roedd hi’n anodd i wybod gyda pwy oedd y cyfrifoldeb am y llun ‘viral’ o Lowri. Lowri tynodd y llun a’i anfon at ei chariad, ond roedd Meic wedi rhoi pwysau mawr ar Lowri i dynnu’r llun. Ond  hefyd, gwerthodd Meic ei ffôn i Gav ac roedd y llun ar y cof. Gwelodd Jen y llun ar ffôn Gav a’i anfon at ffrindiau. Felly, er roedd bai ar llawer o'r cymeriadau, yn fy marn i cyfrifoldeb Lowri oedd tynnu’r llun felly hi oedd ar fai fwyaf."

Adroddiad gan Rebecca Walsh, Bl 12:

"Dydd Iau diwethaf, aethon ni i weld y ddrama ‘SXTO’ yn Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg. Roedd y ddrama i ddangos peryglon defnyddio ffonau symudol, a rhybuddio pobl ifanc bod ffonau symudol yn gallu achosi problemau. Yn fy marn i, mwynheuais i’r ddrama achos roedd e’n ddiddorol iawn.

Y prif cymeriadau oedd Lowri, Meic, Jen a Gav. Roedd y stori yn dilyn bywyd Lowri. Roedd hi wedi bod yn secstio Meic, ond gwerthodd e ei ffôn i Gav, felly yn fuan wedyn, gwelodd pawb y lluniau. Ar ddiwedd y ddrama, roedd Lowri ar do’r ysgol. Roedd hi eisiau neidio, a ceisiodd Meic, Jen a Gav ei stopio hi."

Shwmae! We used our Welsh on 14th Oct!

On Tuesday 14 October, pupils and staff at the school took part in Diwrnod Shwmae or 'Shwmae Day', which is a national celebration of the Welsh language.

A special effort was made to start conversations in Welsh and to use as much Welsh as possible. Also, the Year 7 and 8 Clwb Cymraeg (Welsh Club) created a collage to mark the occasion and the staff who learn Welsh once a week after school joined in the fun too! The Welsh department would like to thank pupils and staff for their enthusiasm!

Ymweld a'r Ysgwrn

Aeth disgyblion Blwyddyn 12 i'r Ysgwrn heddiw i weld cartref Hedd Wyn a chlywed ei hanes gan aelod o'r teulu, Gerald.

Year 12 pupils visited 'Yr Ysgwrn' today to see the poet Hedd Wyn's home and to hear about Hedd Wyn's life first hand from a member of his family, Gerald.

Jamie Ferguson:
"Es i heddiw i gartref Hedd Wyn, 'Yr Ysgwrn'. Mwynheuais i weld y Gadair Ddu - cadair yr Eisteddfod enillodd Hedd Wyn ar ol marw yn y rhyfel. Hefyd hoffais i weld y gegin fach a'r parlwr lle roedd teulu Hedd Wyn wedi cadw'r cadeiriau Eisteddfodol. Mae 'Yr Ysgwrn' yn le hyfryd ac arbennig iawn."

Marnie Adams:
"I enjoyed seeing all the chairs Hedd Wyn won for poetry competitions at different Eisteddfods. We learnt about the different symbols carved into the chairs and what they represented. I also thought finding out new information about the family, farm and house from Hedd Wyn's nephew, Gerald, was an unforgettable experience."

Matthew Davies:
"Seeing the chairs Ellis (his bardic name was Hedd Wyn) won was an amazing experience. But also I enjoyed learning about the view of someone related to Ellis, especially regarding the film. Ellis' nephew and the family disagreed with the 'Hollywood' portrayal of Ellis' social life and love life as they believe him to have been a normal family man."

Glan-llyn - Bore braf ar (ac yn) y llyn!

Roedd yr haul yn disgleirio ar fore Sul a roedd y golygfeydd ar draws y llyn yn ysblennydd.  Her y bore oedd adeiladu rafft i hwylio'r llyn.

The sun shone on Sunday morning, and the views across the lake were simply splendid.  The morning's challenge was to build a raft to sail across the lake.

'Gwaith tim' was the order of the day to build a raft strong enough to hold the entire group.

Raft completed, it was time to test the group's new rope skills.  Would it hold together?  There was only one way to find out.  All aboard....
... well, almost.  Mr Smith thought it might be best if the ship had a captain.
 George, you're in my seat!
But George wasn't prepared to relinquish his seat without a fight!  Man overboard! (quickly followed by George himself)!
With the raft's maiden voyage complete, it was time to pack away ready for the next challenge.

The final challenge of the trip was cyfeiriannu (orienteering).  As you can see, George dried off* after his dip in the lake and soon got to grips with his sgiliau map.

*No pupils were harmed in the making of this blog post. Mr Smith, however, is still missing.  In other news, reports have emerged from Bala of a strange 'Loch Ness' style monster appearing in Llyn Tegid since the weekend....

Glan-llyn - Prynhawn Sadwrn - y bechgyn a'r chweched yn dringo

Ar brynhawn Sadwrn roedd hi'n tro grwp Arenig i fwynhau'r cwrs rhaffau uchel a'r wal dringo. Cawson ni lawer o hwyl!

On Saturday afternoon it was Arenig group's turn to enjoy the high ropes course and climbing wall. We had lots of fun!

Jamie conquers his fear and finds a head for heights.

I'm SO good at this I can do it blindfolded!
